North Coast

The North Coast of NSW refers to the region adjoining the Pacific Ocean in the north-eastern part of the State of New South Wales, Australia. The North Coast region is traversed by the Pacific Highway and the North Coast Line which links Sydney to Brisbane in Queensland. The North Coast has a mild, sub-tropical climate. Major towns on the North Coast include Coffs Harbour, Byron Bay, Lismore, Ballina, Grafton, Casino, Evans Head and Murwillumbah. The region takes in the local council areas of Richmond Valley, Lismore City, Ballina Shire, Byron Shire, Coffs Harbour City Council and Tweed Shire.
The Northern Rivers region is traversed by the Pacific Highway, Bruxner Highway, Summerland Way and the North Coast Line which links Sydney to Brisbane in Queensland.

The North Coast ist divided in three Sub-Regions.
Mid-North Coast (NC): The Mid-North Coast Region covers a coastal strip of NSW and includes the Manning, Hastings, Clarence and Macleay river valleys.

Northern (NR): The region contains the Northern Tablelands, the northern slopes to the west of the tablelands, and the north central plains.
Richmond-Tweed (RT): The Richmond and Tweed coastal river basins and the Upper Clarence River valley dominate this region. To the west is the New England Plateau and to the north the McPherson Range.
